Iconic Mid Century American modern four drawer oak chest, designed by legendary designer Jack Van der Molen for “Americana Casual” Jamestown Lounge Co. This dresser is a true piece of art, a real Mid-Century collectors dream! This has been professionally restored along with the matching 5 drawer chest that is also for sale.
Jack Van der Molen was born in 1922 who was an extraordinary American furniture designer from the mid-20th century, he also served our country during World War ll with the United States Army receiving five Battle Stars. He was talented in many ways, as he was also an esteemed painter who excelled in watercolors. His work is found among private and commercial collectors today. He also loved playing a bit of golf, winning himself some tournaments over the years.
He was a graduate of Kendall School of Design in Grand Rapids Michigan and was known to be at the height of contemporary furniture in the 1950’s. His work detailed sculpted clean lines which gained him much notary especially after winning “Best Chair of the Year” award from House Beautiful Magazine in 1959.
