Large Acrylic Painting By Melissa Ellis Zink

Large Acrylic Painting By Melissa Ellis Zink

This is an undated signed original acrylic painting by artist Melissa Ellis Zink. This painting was once gifted by Melissa as well as another to her brother-in-law for his office at Howell Mouldings in Kansas City.  Melissa later divorced Mr. Howell in 1973 and remarried in 1975 to Nelson John Zink who encouraged her to focus on the arts.

Her dream of creating art was a desire she fulfilled at a much later time in her life with an overabundance amount of support from Mr. Zink. I have reason to believe that this painting along with the other painting I acquired from the Howell Mouldings Co. were created at an earlier stage in her life while still in her twenties, (possibly while she was studying art) long before she stepped in three-dimensional scenes of clay, mixed media, paint and bronze two decades later. In 1993 the Parks Gallery in Taos New Mexico exhibits Melissa’s work. Melissa passed at the age of 77 in 2009, read more here.

Amazing Items, Wonderful People

We purchased several pieces of furniture, and some smaller items. Everything was just as described, and transported to us safely! They even hung out for a while and helped us put things together! Amazing items, and wonderful people! - Tara and DeWayne Keating

Eye for Detail

My husband and I are always on the hunt for some great mid-century modern pieces for our home, and many of our best finds have been through Shelley! Her eye for detail, while keeping the mid-century modern simplicity in mind, is right on point! Always. Their love for finding a diamond in the rough and turning it in to a showpiece seems to be a family affair — which means they love what they do and have fun in the process. Makes me love them all the more! - Kay & Gerald Janssen

The Most Fabulous Finds

Iconic Mid Mod Décor & Restoration has the most fabulous finds! We started with one piece and quickly became hooked! Their pieces are fabulous, however, what really sells them is Matthew and Shelley. The craftsmanship they put into their pieces — along with their dedication to excellent customer service — keeps me coming back for more. The attention to detail, advice, searching for special items, shipping, and delivery makes purchasing these special items so easy. Excellent customer service, quality work, and beautiful items are the standard. Absolutely love everything we have from them!!! — Lauron

A Brilliant Eye

Shelley and Matthew are a wonderful team with a brilliant eye for and love of all things mid-century modern. I am delighted with every item - from large furniture pieces to lamps - that I’ve purchased from Iconic Mid Mod Décor & Restoration! When I mentioned I was looking for a hard to find piece to fit my home office, they contacted me several times with possible finds. Shelley’s restoration work is second to none. Shelley and Matthew are lovely folks, extremely knowledgeable about mid-century modern era design, and as dealers they have absolute integrity. – Lora Sorkin

Shelley and Matt are Amazing

Shelley and Matt are amazing! They are very professional to work with and always find amazing pieces that compliment our home. We’ve purchased several pieces of furniture from them and each piece has been in great condition and we’ve never had any issues with the items. They are very accommodating in meeting to view an item and for pick-up. The Briggs’ are the go-to team for anything mid-mod! – Jeff
