Mid Century Modern Finn Juhl Style Gentleman’s Chest Sold by John Stuart For Mount Airy
This vintage Mid Century eleven drawer Gentleman’s Chest was manufactured in North Carolina in the 50’s by the Mount Airy Furniture Company. This design is from their “Contempora” line, retailed by John Stuart, a high-end furniture importer who specialized in Danish and American designer pieces.
This Iconic style is often attributed to the Danish designer Finn Juhl. Although he may have influenced this fabulous design, there is no proof that he is linked to it.
This was constructed with solid woods (a heavy solid structure) and finished with a thick bleached walnut veneer. The sculptural leg support, and floating top is reminiscent of the Drexel Declaration line by Kipp Stewart.

Constructed with solid woods (a heavy solid structure) and finished with a thick bleached walnut veneer. The structure is solid. all the drawers are dovetailed and glide nicely. Professionally refurbished and showroom ready. The brass hardware has been polished and looks new!
As with any vintage piece, you can expect some minor age related wear. This displays minimal wear, all flaws were repaired to bring you a beautifully restored furnishing, you will not be disappointed! You’re getting a bonus, “LOOKS NEW”!
